- ChargerLAB: Teardown of Apple 25W Qi2.2 + MagSafe Charger A3502 (HK Version) (opens in a new tab), published . Our reading: found no faults, but didn’t test the power claims.
Opened the 1 m charger (model A3502) and catalogued its parts: a USB-C controller and a Texas Instruments power chip in the plug, and an STMicro controller and wireless charging chip in the puck. It measured input power (about 29W at 15V 1.93A while charging an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and about 0.445W on standby) but not wireless output, and reported no faults.

Evidence notes
- Apple: “The MagSafe Charger provides faster wireless charging up to 25W when paired with a 30W power adapter. The MagSafe Charger is certified for Qi2 25W and Qi charging, so it can be used to wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or later, as well as AirPods models with a wireless charging case.”
- The 7.5W Qi figure comes from Apple's line “For wireless charging up to 7.5W for iPhone 8 or later with Qi when paired with the 20W USB‑C Power Adapter (sold separately).” Apple also states “fast wireless charging up to 15W for iPhone 12 or later with MagSafe when paired with the 20W USB‑C Power Adapter”.
- Apple says “The perfectly aligned magnets attach to compatible iPhone models” and that “The magnetic alignment experience only applies to iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, compatible iPhone 16 models, iPhone 17 models, iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro models, and iPhone Duo.”
- Apple lists the box contents as the MagSafe Charger with a 1 m integrated USB‑C cable, and calls the 30W and 20W adapters “sold separately”.
- Apple's page footnote names the 1‑meter charger as Model A3502 and the 2‑meter one as Model A3503; this record covers the 1 m part only. The page gives a part number of MGD74LL/A in its URL and no dimensions or weight.
- ChargerLAB's teardown is of the Hong Kong edition of model A3502. The page says ChargerLAB “acquired” it but doesn't state how ChargerLAB obtained the unit.
- Release month not recorded: Apple's product page gives no date for this part number, and we found no Apple press release naming it.
- We couldn't check the UL and Intertek certification databases automatically on 2026-10-24; a manual check is still to do.
- No FCC ID is stated on Apple's pages we read.
- No CPSC recall names this charger; Apple's recalls cover other products, such as notebook batteries and a Beats speaker (saferproducts.gov searched 2026-10-24).
